Affordable Housing
A housing model built to fund itself
Interstellar CDC develops affordable tiny-home and modular housing in Tarrant County for three groups Texas growth has left behind. Our programs are designed and ready to deploy — what they need now is the right funding and partnership to break ground.
Three communities, one development engine
Homeless & at-risk veterans
Stable, dignified tiny homes for veterans facing housing instability — structured to align with established federal support pathways.
Working families priced out
Affordable ownership for families displaced by Tarrant County's rising costs — the workforce that keeps the region running but can no longer afford to live in it.
Adults right-sizing their lives
Low-maintenance, right-sized homes for adults 55+ who want to downsize without leaving the community they helped build.
The cross-subsidy engine
Most affordable-housing nonprofits depend entirely on grants. We're built differently. Our 55+ homes sell below the Texas senior-market average — still attractive to buyers, while the margin they generate underwrites deeply affordable units for veterans and working families. Mission and sustainability in the same model.
An operator's approach, not a wish list
Project orchestration
We control and coordinate the development — site, design, and contracted construction — keeping projects accountable and on-budget.
Aligned funding
We pursue structured, documented funding through CDFIs, mission lenders, and county housing programs — meeting funders where the money actually moves.
Tiny homes first, modular next
Tiny homes let us deliver affordable units faster and at lower cost, with modular construction as the model scales.
Local impact, measured
Every project is framed around Tarrant County priorities — with veteran housing impact and community outcomes we can report to partners.
Help us break ground
We're a Texas 501(c)(3) public charity with a developed model and a clear first project. Partners, funders, and CDFIs: let's talk about getting the first homes built.
